Which Web Hosting Is Good?

Which webhosting is good?

It really depends on the individual needs. However, there are some subtle and yet important points (I think) you should consider.

I believe there are more than enough reviews out there telling you regarding the bandwidth, space, email accounts, scripts, and many many more… while considering sign up for a webhosting plan.

Undoubtedly, these are very important factors. However, the 24×7 professional LIVE support, prompt attention to problem raised and accuracy problem solving are equally important. And also, the availability of working demo site is playing a vital part in deciding webhosting plan as well.

1. Professional LIVE Support

This is extremely important because while there is problem occurred such as the website is not accessible. Of course, you would like to know the cause of problem and when the problem would be solved immediately, especially we are living in this fast-pace society. How could you reach the support almost immediately? Definitely, email is out the answer. Phone calling is next best way of reaching the support. However, this is could be a very expensive way for overseas customers. Hence, the “Live Chat” is the best way of reaching the support for everyone.

“Live Chat” is a web-based instant messaging feature (a way of communication over the internet) which is similar to MSN Web Messenger. It is usually embedded on the webhosting website. Whenever you want to reach support for any question, you just need to click on the “Live Chat”, a pop window (usually) would start loading. And you can start chatting with the support once it’s ready.

Eventually, it still comes down to the professionalism of the support, how accurate and fast s/he can tackle and resolve your problems. Hence, please ensure that you really do try the “Live Chat” of the webhosting company, but not just see it’s available on the website and make a tick on your webhosting plan consideration checklist.

2. Working Demo Site

There are so many excellent webhosting companies’ webmaster who can writes how fantastic webhosting plan they have, how perfect their supports are, and etc. However, as first-time visitor, how do you know whether all these are truly true? Of course, you can search for reviews of others who have tried it before. But, the credibility of those reviews are really subjective. I would say the old -fashioned hand-on experience is still the most practical way of justification. Hence, a working demo site provided from the webhosting company would be just as perfect! Visitors could have the hands-on experience of what s/he is going to have after the sign-up.

Well, that’s it folks! These are the 2 points that I strongly suggestthat you should put in your checklist of choosing a webhosting company.

Fatcow: What Is All The Mooing Over?

I have read countless amounts on Fatcow and wanted to take the time and set the record straight on Fatcow. So I actually read a good consumer review on their service lately and it might really surprise you when people complain about their service. In fact, it is generally the users fault and Fatcow goes out of their way to help them. This was noted by a Fatcow employee.

For instance, there have been some issues with peoples sites being down, because they failed to pay their bill. They either didn’t have their service set to “auto-renew” or were using a credit card that was expired. In fact, I know that we have all been there and been upset. Well, when we are upset with something not going our way we are forced to call a customer service agent.

True, I would hate to be on the receiving end of a phone call where people are mad at me. However, Fatcow unlike a lot of companies is available to talk 24-7, which a lot of customers value a lot. In fact, if you can’t pick up the phone and call them you could always talk to them on their 24-7 live chat. They do not outsource their customer service work either to a third world country which is great.

Not to mention, a lot of the times you really don’t have to contact them on their live chat or toll free number, because they release bulletins when they are doing maintenance. I really do wish other hosting companies would take a page out of FatCow’s book, and update their service with frequent updates like FatCow does.

So with aside from having great communication, and a staff that is always available to answer questions, Fatcow has everything a good web hosting should have. The main, or one of the main attractions to FatCow is you can pay your hosting bill once a year. There is no need to set up an automated bill that comes out every month.

There were a couple complaints that people would sign up for their service and kind of felt it was deceptive. The reason they thought it was deceptive is because they used to charge for sub domains. However, this isn’t the case anymore. FatCow actually took the time to fight the struggles that previous customers were having. They now over everything as unlimited; this means unlimited bandwidth, unlimited space, POP mailbox, FTP accounts, and yes unlimited sub domains.

They do support everything you could possibly want from a hosting company such as, CGI, PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, and MySQL. Better yet there is no setup fees and you can get instant activation, too. I have personally tried out there service and have transfered previous clients web hosting over to them, too.

The Switch From Hostgator To InMotion

Recently, I was interested in switching over from Hostgator to InMotion because there VPS (virtual private server) packages is a bit cheaper than Hostgator. But, I really wasn’t sure I wanted to abaandon Hostgator because they have been so good to me for over 5 years. Hostgator’s support is excellent and has always been a good company to do business with. However, I decided to investigate on InMotion to see if I might want to give them a try, and also save a little money.

So upon my investigation I found that InMotion is really a pretty good company and I immediately contacted them through their live chat. Sure I have used Hostgators live chat several times before and they helped out a lot. My expectations for InMotion were set to be pretty high since I have been going with Hostgator for a number of years.
So as mentioned above.

I did contact InMotion, and I was really expecting a lot out of them. I basically told them that I was considering switching over to them because I was being limited on my processes from Hostgator, because I did have a shared package, which limits you to 25 processes at a time. I do run a handful of sites and they are integrated with all kinds of PHP script, so you need to have an unlimited amount of processes.

Now it should be noted that one disadvantage to Hostgator is that with their shared hosting you are limited to a number of things. Processes being one of them. I had talked to a number of hosting services that I was considering before InMotion. One web hosting company I talked to was 1and1 hosting. Get this, I talk to them on the phone and the customer service agent on the other end had no clue what a process was?

Aside from that when I talked to InMotion’s customer service staff I quickly realized that they they actually knew what they were talking about. (Just like Hostgator). In fact, when I was done talking to the agent he gave me his toll free number, and told me to call him and he would help get my service switched over for me. This really put my mind at ease because I was stressing the move.

Now, I know a lot of people out there may not realize the importance of having a good customer service support staff, when it comes to hosting. Imagine this, if your site is down or there is a problem where your site is hacked or something you are going to need to talk to someone that can help you.

All to often I find that people make decision on hosting based on price. Price is important, don’t get me wrong, but they need to be dependable, and have great customer service too.

So when switching over from Hostgator shared hosting to InMotion’s VPS plan I really did have a good experience. I did expect a lot since I had worked with Hostgator for about 5 years. InMotion certainly did exceed my exceptions and I consider them to be of the same standards as Hostgator.

All Webhosts Offer The Same Features But Price Does Matter

There are many different hosts on the market of which vary in price from expensive to cheap. You might believe a cheap host is inferior to an expensive web host, but there are several cheap hosts available which are top quality. You just have to do a little shopping around to select the correct one. So, below are a few things you should consider when selecting a cheap web host that meets your needs.

Time in Business- While this isn’t the largest factor that determines the grade of a cheap web host, it can help you choose the right one. If your host has been in business for many years, there’s a greater chance that it is a quality company. Of course, there are new companies that are just as good, so this shouldn’t be your only consideration when selecting a cheap host.

Reputation- This can be a very important consideration when selecting an cheapest hosting. One strategy for finding out if a specific web hosting company has a bad reputation is to read online reviews and comments from people that have used the service you have in mind. If there are several complaints, you should get a company with a better reputation.

Customer Service- The quality of customer support and tech support team is another crucial consideration when selecting a cheap web host. You need to ensure that whatever company you choose has 24/7 support through phone and email. Most companies offer a live chat option that’s very convenient.

Features- Most hosting services whether cheap or expensive offer exactly the same general features. Some of the features you ought to look for when selecting a cheap web host is unlimited bandwidth, disk space and domains. You could also want a web host that uses cPanel to generate setting up and managing your hosting account fast and simple.

Warranties- When selecting an cheapest web hosting, you should determine if they offer any type of guarantee. Many will offer a general cash back guarantee in case you are not satisfied with their service. Additionally they have an uptime guarantee. Most web hosting services guarantee a 99.9% uptime, so your web site won’t ever be offline more than .1% of the time.

When looking for an inexpensive host that will meet your hosting needs, the features above are merely a few of the things you should look at. Choosing The Best Web Hosting Service – 3 Tips

Do you feel that all web hosting services are the same? Or possibly you make your decision on whether or not to use a web hosting service just solely on the price. Well if you answered yes to either of these questions you should keep reading this article because I am going to cover what the best web hosting service will consist of. I have read all kinds of information, and they all seem to agree on three different areas.

Uptime Is Important

First and foremost, the best web hosting service does need to have 99.7% uptime. I would be a little skeptical of any service that promises that you will have 100% uptime. This is unrealistic and no hosting provider can really guarantee this. What 99.7% means is that over 3 months your site would be down for about 10 minutes, and this would just be because the data center that stores your server is just running routine maintenance and is probably just resetting there servers. It is imperative to have your site up with as little down time as possible.

Support

Another thing that probably is the biggest issue with me is support. If there is ever a problem, and trust me there will be at some time. When dealing with computers nothing always works properly, so just keep in mind that you will have to contact their customer service at some point. You do not want to find out how good their customer service is when there is a problem, do you?

Do your research and find out what their customers are saying about them. More importantly, how are people getting in contact with them. Do they have a 24/7 toll free number that you can call. Another common way to get ahold of your hosting provider is through a live chat support agent. More and more quality web hosting providers are providing various different ways to get in touch with them. The best web hosting service will have the best support, period.

Cost

The price should come into factor, but don’t let this be the biggest factor. In fact, I would make it third on the list. First would be reliability, then support, and lastly the cost. I would rather pay a little more money to insure that my hosting provider is reliable and does in fact come with good customer support.

I just want to make it perfectly clear that choosing the right web hosting provider is a big decision. In fact, I know from personal experiences that choosing the wrong hosting company can cause a ton of headaches and even cost you thousands of dollars.

Now that you know three important areas that you should consider when choosing a web hosting company you should be able to make a decision on what is best for your company. Do carefully consider how reliable, how good their communication is, and lastly there price.
